Prospective Students

Welcome to SXC Department of Physics

Undergraduate Degree (Bachelor degree )

An undergraduate (BSc) degree in Physics provides an excellent basis not only for post-graduate studies in physics and related fields, but also for professional work in such fields as astrophysics, biophysics, engineering and applied physics, geophysics, management, law, economics or medicine. The undergraduate curriculum at SXC offers students the opportunity to acquire a deep conceptual understanding of fundamental physics.

This process begins in the first year where student covers the fundamentals of the core Physics in four papers, spread across two semesters. In second year students learn a mix of core and applied courses along with programming and communication skills. In third year student learn advanced topics along with a brief dissertation in applied Physics.

Every course is blended with project based learning. This gives students enough time not only to understand the nuances of the subject but also to find their interests. Students proceed at the pace best suited to their individual capacities.

Apart from these we offer programs like PROBE and JIGYASA where students hone their talents. In addition to these department encourages the students to particapate in national/international programms. For application please visit www.xaviers.edu.

JIGYASA is annual Physics Exhibition

Postgraduate Degree (Master degree)

St. Xavier's College Physics Department is introducing a Masters (MSc) degree course in Physics with specialisation in Astrophysics from academic year 2019-20 onwards. This is uniquely designed course in which classroom learning and research are blended together giving equal weightage to theory and practicals. For details check the following links.
