Undergraduate (BSc)

An undergraduate (BSc) degree in Physics provides an excellent basis not only for post-graduate studies in physics and related fields, but also for professional work in such fields as astrophysics, biophysics, engineering and applied physics, geophysics, management, law, economics or medicine. The undergraduate curriculum at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai offers students the opportunity to acquire a deep conceptual understanding of fundamental physics.

This process begins in the first year where students cover the fundamentals of the core physics in four papers, spread across two semesters. In second year, students learn a mix of core and applied courses along with programming and communication skills. In third year, students learn advanced topics along with a brief dissertation in Applied Physics.

Every course is blended with project based learning. This gives students enough time not only to understand the nuances of the subject but also to find their interests. Students proceed at the pace best suited to their individual capacities.

Apart from these we offer programs like PROBE and JIGYASA where students hone their talents. In addition to these, department encourages the students to participate in national/international programmes.
